Saraguaro, Majesto Head Field in GP Feature
The upcoming eighth and feature race at Gulfstream is headed by Saraguaro and Majesto, two recent budding stars who are now on the comeback trail.
The race is one mile on dirt--an optional claimer wit with an $18,000 tag and a $43,000 purse. There are eight entrants.
Saraguaro has not raced since last Nov. 12 when he finished third n the 1 1/16 miles Millions Classic Preview at Gulfstream Park West (Calder).
He won that race in 2015 and appeared headed to stardom, But he was winless in four starts in between.
Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. gave Saraguaro two extended break after racing him six times in four months late in 2015. Tyler Gaffalione has the mount today.
Majesto finished second in last year's Florida Derby (Grade 1). He then finished a troubled 18th in the Kentucky Derby (Grade 1) and sixth in the Curlin Stakes at Saratoga where he apparently bled.
In his two comeback races he has finished fifth an third. Edgard Zayas has the mount for trainer Gustavo Delgado.
We also like Moonshine Martini in an exacta box with Sarsaguaro and Majesto.
