Gulfstream Park will have one stakes race on the upcoming
weekend.
That race is Saturday’s $50,000 Sugar Loaf Key Handicap,
the day’s 11th race. It is six furlongs on dirt for 3-year-olds and
up.
Among the eight entrants are Money or Love and Sweet Khaleesi.
On July 29 at Gulfstream, Money or Love was sent off at 20-1
and beat the 5-2 favorite Sweet Khaleesi by a neck in the $50.000 Added
Elegance Handicap.
That race was seven furlongs on dirt for fillies and mares
3-years-old and up that had never won an open stake. A stakes restricted to
horses bred in a particular state, such as Florida, is not an open stakes.
On Saturday 2, Gulfstream will have the second leg races in
the Florida Sire Stskes Series.
The $200,000 Susan’s Girl will be seven furlongs on dirt for fillies. The $200,000 Affirmed is seven furlongs on dirt for males,
The Sire Stakes is open to Florida-breds whose sires are
Florida-registered stallions whose owners have nominated them for the program.
