Gulfstream Park has an 8-race card Thursday, May 11th.
First post is at 12:40 PM.
Gulfstream races Thursday through Sunday in the Royal Palm meet at the
Hallandale Beach, Fla. track with 12:40 PM Post Times except some
Holiday and Stakes variations.
No
stakes races are on the card. The 3rd through 8th races are the Rainbow
6 races, starting at approximately 1:38 PM. There's a $370,195 Rainbow 6 carryover
on the day. Gulfstream will guarantee a $475,000 gross jackpot if one
winner emerges in Thursday's racing. The SUPER HIGH 5 wager has a
$2,924 carryover in race 1 most likely.
In last Sunday's racing action, 65 winners of the Rainbow 6 collected $1,095.92 each on the 20-cent bet. Three favorites won in the last 6 races. Fifty-five horses competed in the Rainbow 6 races, with Join the Dance the long-odds winner on the day at 13:1 in race 8.
The Rainbow 6 program winners were: 5-4/7-4-7-6-5.
In last Saturday's Kentucky Derby Day, Gulfstream collected $9.03 million total handle. That was about even from 2022, at $8.93 million, but down from the $10.88 million in 2021.
In the Kentucky Derby itself, betting pools were fairly consistant with the 2022 race on the popular wagers.
$2 EXACTA: up 2.1% in wagering to $26.3 million
$0.50 TRIFECTA: -4.8% in wagering to $31.3 million
$0.20 PICK 6: -2.4% in wagering to $2.45 million.
The BIGGEST INCREASE we sighted was the WIN-PLACE-SHOW
pool increasing from $75.6 million last year to $89.2 million this
year; that's a BIG +18% increase.
Perhaps after the 80:1 win last year
by RICH STRIKE, bettors were not willing to make the multiple horse bets as much?
The total purse for the Kentucky Derby was $8.303 million.
