Gulfstream: Carried Over Late Pick 5 Pays $674.25; Rainbow 6 Carryover Grows to $234,508

On a Saturday laden with low-odds winners at Gulfstream Park, each ticket with all five winning horses on the carried-over Late Pick 5 paid a relatively low $674.25  for a 50 cent  minimum bet.

Tickets with four of five winners paid $7.35 on a 50 cent bet.

The number of winning tickets could not be readily  determined.

Program numbers of the five winning horses were 4-7-6-3-4.

There was a Late Pick 5 carryover of $70,480 from Friday, when there were no tickets with all five winners. The Friday sequence included one winner at 24-1and one winner at 45-1. Bettors added $564,762 to the Late Pick 5, which began on Saturday's seventh race.

More than half of that money came in during the approximately  five minutes when the board showed 0 (zero) minutes to post.  Gulfstream, as often, delayed the start to allow more bettors to get into a big  carried-over bet.

Gulfstream will have a new Late Pick 5 pool on Sunday, with no carryover. The Late Pick 5 will be on races six to ten with the sequence scheduled to start at 2:36 p.m.

First post will be 12:00 p.m. on the ten-race card.

Meanwhile on Saturday, each ticket with all six winners in the Rainbow 6 paid $940,20 on the 20 cents per combination-only bet.

There were 121 such tickets, according to HorseRacingFLA's review of Equibase charts. Wagering on the Rainbow 6 was $216,227.

Those payoffs resulted from five of Saturday's Rainbow 6 winners coming in at 5-2 or lower in the last six races. There was one winner at 9-1.

Program numbers of the winning horses were 4-4-7-6-3-4.

The Rainbow 6 carryover is seven days old. It will be $234,508 on Sunday.

Gulfstream is guaranteeing that the pool will be at least $400,000 if there is just on ticket with all six winners. That would trigger a jackpot payout of the full carryover plus 80 percent of the day's new Rainbow 6 bet/

If there are multiple winning tickets, Gulfstream takes out 20 percent of the new Rainbow 6 bet, It then distributes 56 percent among tickets with the most winners and then puts 24 percent into the carryover.
