BAUER'S BETS: Fast & Firm at Tampa

Today's play is in Race 5, Post time 2:50 PM. Newly turned sophomore fillies go a mile on the lawn for a $20,000 claiming price.

(4) NEW FOUND TREASURE fits well in this field and offers good value at 5/1 on the morning line. This lass is one of only a pair (the other is number 1) to win a turf race. She won nicely at seven and one half furlongs last time out, has been freshened and she should like the additional sixteenth today. Top jock Samy Camacho rides for the powerful Kathleen O'Connell outfit, currently second in the trainer's standings.

THE BET: $10 to win on (4) NEWFOUND TREASURE and a $2 exacta box with (1) ITSGOTTABEMYWAY and (9) SNOWZILLA.
1,4,9    Total Bet $22    GOOD LUCK!!

YESTERDAYS RESULTS We cashed on the exacta box in Race 8 on Wednesday for $40.80. We invested $22, got a profit of $18.80. The Bankroll is now $40.80.

Gulfstream's Friday Card - 12:35 PM Post

Gulfstream hosts 10 races on its Friday card, with a first post of 12:35 PM. Five races are scheduled for the turf, normal for a 10 race day.

There are no stakes races.

Thursday saw some long-odds horses win on the middle section of that card, which made for some high payouts for the few lucky bettors.

The 9:1, 12:1, and 9:1 winners in races 6,7,8 resulted in these payouts:

Late Pick 4, $2,389
Late Pick 5, $48,756
Rainbow 6, $17,120 (estimated 4 winners)

Just one odds favorite won in the last 6 races.

Bettors added $122,299 to the pool for the Rainbow, so the carryover is now $79,340. The Super High 5 was not hit on the last race, so that carryover is $13,744 in the first race today.

Gulfstream Fast and Firm for Thursday

Gulfstream Park will have ten races on Thursday with first post of 12:35 p.m.

The Rainbow 6 carryover is $49,992. It is on races five through ten, with the sequence scheduled to start at 2:33 p.m.

Conditions are listed as Fast and Firm. The Weather Channel forecast is for a 15 percent chance of rain during racing hours.

On Wednesday there were 203 tickets with the winners of all six Rainbow 6 races. Each was paid $203.58 on the 20-cent only  bet.

Gulfstream makes a Rainbow 6  jackpot payout only on days when there is just one ticket with all six winners and on pre-announced mandatory  days when it divides the jackpot among multiple winning tickets.

The jackpot consists of 80 percent of the day's Rainbow 6 bet plus the entire incoming carryover.

On other days, such as Wednesday, Gulfstream takes out 20 of the new Rainbow 6 bet, It then divides 56 percent among tickets with the most winners (usually six) and adds 24 percent to the carryover.
