GP Saturday Card Has Three Stakes Races

 HRFLA Staff Report

Gulfstream Park on Saturday will have three stakes  races--all with $60,000 purses and one with several prominent Florida-stabled older horses.

Those races will be part of a ten-race card with first post of 12:50 p.m. On Friday, heavy rain resulted in the dirt track being listed as Sloppy during most of the race card.

As of  10 a.m. Saturday, light rain was falling  in the area around Gulfstream in Hallandale Beach, Fla. The Weather Channel forecast is for the chance of rain to rise above 50 percent late in the race day.

We will report on track conditions when that information is available.

The feature race is the Miami Beach Handicap at on mile on dirt for three-year-olds and up. It has an eight-horse field that includes Noble Drama, King Guillermo and Eye of a Jedi. All three have won at least one major stakes race at a Florida track.

The Miami Beach is the ninth race with scheduled post of 5:06 p.m.

The Journeyman Stud Juvenile is one mile and 70 yards on the all-weather Tapeta track for Florida-bred two-year-olds

The Khozen Juvenile Fillies is for 2-year-old Florida-bred fillies and is seven furlongs on dirt.

We will have previews  of the stakes races as part of our Saturday coverage..

The first race has a Super Hi-5 carryover of $3,596.

The Rainbow 6 has a carryover of $91,544.  It is  is  on races five to ten.
