Following rain this morning, Gulfstream has tsaken the tenth and 12th races off the turf and moved them to the dirt track that is listed as fast.
Those two races will be at seven furlongs on dirt. They had been scheduled for "about 7 1/2 furlongs on turf.
The seventh race is coming up with scheduled post of 3:04 p.m. It is the start of the Rainbow 6 with a carryover of $968,959.
The seventh and eighth races are scheduled for dirt.
The ninth through 12th races were all scheduled for turf.
Gulfstream has kept the ninth and 11th races on turf. A central reason is that the portable rail will be at 115 feet for those two races. That is on the outer part of the wide Gulfstream turf course, where water is generally absorbed better than on the inner half.
The rail was to be at 34 feet for the tenth and 12th races. Gulfstream apparently decided to be cautious, and not run those races on the inner turf.
For between race course maintenance purposes it would not have been practical to move them to today's outer part of the course.
