Gulfstream Back on Turf, Stakes Race Coming Up

Racing is back on the turf at Gulfstream Park on Thursday, following three days on which it did not hold races on tha surface due to heavy rain associated wih Subtropical Storm Alberto.

For the ten-race Thursday card, the dirt track is listed as fast and the turf course is listed as firm.

Scheduled post  is 4:55 p.m,. for the feature eighth race.  
It is the $75,000 Christmas Past Stakes at one mile on turf for fillies and mares 3-YO and up. We will have coverage on this blog.

Gulfstream on Saturday, Sunday and Monday moved all of its scheduled-for-turf races to dirt because of rain and wet conditions,  Gulfstream was dark on Tuesday and Wednesday, giving its racing surfaces time to dry out.

Gulfstream Off the Turf for Monday

For the third straight day, there is no turf racing at Gulfstream Park.

For today's special Memorial Day card, Gulfstream has moved all six scheduled-for--turf races to the dirt track that is listed as Good.

Those races were the first, third, fifth, seventh, ninth and eleventh.

First post was 1:15  p.m. for the 11-race  card.

Rain has been sporadic since early morning at Gulfstream and around the Miami-Fort Lauderdale  area.
However the turf course still needs time to dry out following two days of heavy rains associated with Subtropical Sform Alberto which was in the Gulf of Mexico.

Gulfstream Mid-day Sunday Report

Four races have been run on Gulfstream's 11-race Sunday card, and the dirt track has been upgraded to Good.
Rain has  stoped for the most part, but skies remain overcast.
The Rainbow 6 starts on the sixth race, with scheduled post  of 3:52 p.m.  Races seven, nine and 11 are off the turf--and bettors have had since 10:30 a.m, when most scratches were announced, to make bets based on surface switches and conditions.
The carryover is $117,755.  Races seven, nine and eleven have been moved from turf to dirt,

Gulfstream Off the Turf, Again, on Sunday

Due to heavy rain, overnight and continuing in the morning, Gulfstream Park has moved all  five  of Sunday's  scheduled-for-turf races to the dirt track that is listed as sloppy and will be sealed.

Those races are the second, fifth, seventh, ninth and 11th. 
First  post is 1:15 p.m. for  an 11-race card.

On Saturday, Gulfstream moved all  six  scheduled for turf races tothe dirt.

The Miami-Fort Lauderdale area is feeling the impact of Subtropical Storm Alberto which is  moving northward through the Gulf of Mexico.
