Florida Tracks’ Holiday Week Schedule Includes Gulfstream Racing Christmas Eve

Gulfstream Park will have  live racing on  Sunday, Christmas  Eve, with ten races and first post of 12:00 p.m.

Tampa Bay Downs does not have live racing on Sunday, Christmas Eve.

Neither Florida track has live racing on Monday, Christmas Day.

According to Equibase, 21 U.S. thoroughbred tracks are currently holding race meets.  Of those, only Gulfstream and Sunland Park in New Mexico have live racing on Christmas Eve.

No U.S. thoroughbred tracks have racing on Christmas Day this year—continuing a long tradition.

Gulfstream added December to its live racing calendar in 2011.

The only previous year it has held racing on Christmas Eve was 2011 when Dec. 24 was a Saturday. 

Gulfstream has never held live racing on Christmas Day.

Through Jan.1, Gulfstream has live racing on the following days:

*Tuesday  Dec. 26

*Thursday Dec. 28

*Friday Dec. 29

*Saturday Dec. 30

*Sunday Dec. 31

*Monday Jan. 1

Gulfstream’s regular racing schedule is Wednesdays through Sundays.

Through Jan. 1. Tampa Bay Downs has live racing the following days:

*Wednesday Dec. 27

*Friday Dec.  29’

*Saturday  Dec. 30

*Sunday Dec. 31

In race 6, we are going to play against the 7/5 morning line favorite MOANA (3). She may be the class of the field, but she has been idle for 115 days and has never sprinted in her six race career. This race may be just a prep for bigger and longer races in the future. Will play a $2 exacta box using LEGEND OF LORELEI (1), JAKOBS ROCKET GIRL (6) and LUNA'S KEY (9). Also will bet $5 win and place on LUNA'S KEY (9) who is 30/1 on the morning line.

Going to try a longshot play in race 3. MS. SCARLET FEVER (4) 20/1 morning line, is the only off the pace runner in this speed-laden field of six. She might be able to pick up the pieces after an almost certain speed duel. Will bet her first and second in $2 exacta part-wheels with ROYAL JEWELY (3), FOLK MAGIC (6) and TAPA TAPA TAPA (7). 4 with 3,6,7  3,6,7 with 4
