Gulfstream to Race this Saturday, Cancels Sunday and Monday

Friday  Aug. 30 --Gulfstream Park announced today it has cancelled its live racing programs for Sunday, Sept. 1 and Monday, Sept. 2 as Hurricane Dorian approaches the east coast of Florida.

Gulfstream also announced its entire facility – including the Casino at Gulfstream and The Village at Gulfstream Park – will be closed beginning midnight on Saturday, Aug. 31 until further notice.

Gulfstream will conduct its live racing program Saturday, Aug 31 including the $400,000 FTBOA Sire Stakes.

            Horsemen stabled at Gulfstream Park
and its satellite training facility Palm Meadows in Palm Beach County have been told they may stable at whichever facility they feel more comfortable depending on the track of Dorian.

“The health and welfare of our employees, our equine athletes and our customers are always our priorities,” said Gulfstream’s Vice President Bill Badgett. “We are closely monitoring the storm and are in constant contact with our horsemen in Florida.”
Gulfstream will also be used if needed as a staging area for Florida Power & Light, Hallandale Beach Police and the City of Sunny Isles Police.

Gulfstream Off the Turf for Friday

Due to wet conditions and the likelihood of more
rain, there will be no turf racing at Gulfstream Park on Friday.

First post is 2:15 p.m. for a nine-race  card.

The first, third, fifth, seventh and ninth races were scheduled for the turf. Gulfstream has moved them to the dirt track that - as of 1:00 p.m. - is listed as fast.

Weather forecasters anticipate that Hurricane Dorian will make landfall on the S.E. coast of Florida sometime Sunday evening.

It is likely that Gulfstream will feel some impact in Hallandale Beach, Fla., which is situated about halfway between Miami and and Fort Lauderdale.

We will keep you posted when Gulfstream decides whether or not to run its  races that are scheduled for Saturday, Sunday and Labor Day Monday.

Today's race card has a Rainbow 6 carryover of $961,289.50.

The Rainbow 6, a 20-cent per combination bet, will be on races four to nine with the sequence scheduled to start at 3:49 p.m.

Gulfstream Has Pair of Thursday Carryovers

After being dark this Monday through  Wednesday, Gulfstream Park will resume live racing on Thursday  with ten races  and first post of 1:15 p.m.

The Thursday  card will have a  Super Hi-5 carryover of $9,111 on the first race.

That will be an appetizer to the Rainbow 6, where the carryover for Thursday will be $934,782.

The Rainbow 6, a 20-cent per combination only bet, will be on races five through ten, with the  sequence scheduled to start at 3:18 p.m.

The carryover has grown because Gulfstream has gone 30 straight race days without the jackpot/carryover payoff requirement of just one Rainbow 6 ticket with the winners of all six races.

On Sunday, the most recent Gulfstream race day, there were  29 tickets. with all  six winners.  Each received $3,709.70

Program numbers of the six winning horses were 2-4-2-2-1-3.

Bettors put $194,857 into  the Rainbow 6 on Sunday. Gulfstream took out 20 percent of that,  divided 56 percent among the tickets with six winners and added 24 percent to  the carryover.

GP Sunday: Rainbow 6 Carryover is $888,014

The carryover on the Rainbow 6  at Gulfstream Park has grown to $888,014 and it will be all on the line on Sunday.

Gulfstream's 11-race card has a first post of 1:15 p.m. There are no stakes races on the card.

The Rainbow 6, a 20-cent per combination only bet, will be on races six to eleven with the sequence set to start at 3:43 p.m.

The  carryover has grown because Gulfstream has gone 29 straight race days without the jackpot carryover payout  requirement of just one ticket with all six Rainbow 6 winning horses.

On Saturday there were 85 tickets with all six winners. Each  was paid $1,650.66 on the 20-cent only bet.

Program numbers of the winning horses were.1-4-8-8-4-6.

Bettors put $253,328 into the Rainbow 6. Of that Gulfstream took out 20 percent, divided 56 percent among winning tickets and added 24 percent to the carryover.

Gulfstream is starting Sunday with the dirt listed as Fast and the turf as Firm.

However the Weather Chanel  forecast is for a 75 percent chance of thunderstorms between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Races  one, three, five, seven, nine and 11 are scheduled for the turf - with three of them in the Rainbow 6 and two in the Late Pick 5.  If a race is taken of turf after those two bets are underway, all horses that are not late scratches and remain in become ALL winners for the multi-race purposes.

Sunday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will be kicked off by a five-furlong maiden special weight race for 2-year-olds with a full field of 12 in Race 6 and highlighted by a 6 1/2-furlong optional claiming allowance for state-bred 3-year-olds and up in race 10.

Friday's GP Racing; Rainbow 6 Carryover Near $800K

Gulfstream Park plans a 10-race card Friday, with a first post of 2:00 PM at the Hallandale, Florida track. No stakes races are planned.

The weather channel forecasts a 25-50% chance of rain during racing hours, so expect some off-the-turf racing.

Thursday saw 3 races off the turf, with 11 horses scratched on the Rainy and Sloppy-sealed main track.

Also Thursday, just  59 starters ran the ten races, where 6 favorites won their races – a surprise given the weather.

The three Off-turf races were included in the late pick 5 and Rainbow 6, leading to some very tiny payouts.

Three legs of the Rainbow were given ALL on their tickets when those races were taken off the turf. The winning program numbers were 1/3-ALL-1-ALL-2-ALL.

The late race payoffs were as follows:
 Late Pick 4, $34.45
 Late Pick 5, $106.10
 Rainbow 6, $2.12

The Rainbow 6 win went to an estimated 32,600 ticket holders !

That’s got to be a wagering low payout. We suggest to keep your ticket as a souvenier; it may bring some money in the future.

The total pool on this wager was $123,636, and a lowly 35 starters left the gates the last 6 races.

Today’s carryover on the popular Rainbow 6 is at $793,148. It starts in race 5 at approx. 3:58 PM. It’s paid when a single winner has all 6 finishers on his or her $0.20 wager.

$763,478.

The Rainbow 6, a 20-cent per combination only bet, will be on races five to ten with the sequence set  to start at  3:18 p.m.

On Sunday, Gulfstream's most recent race day, there were six tickets with all Rainbow  6  winners.  Each was paid $20,606.85 on a 20-cent  bet.

The  carryover has grown because Gulfstream has gone 26 straight racing days without the jackpot payoff requirement of just one  ticket with the winning horses in all six  Rainbow  6 races

Sunday's handle  for the Rainbow  6 was $211,679.

Of that  betting, Gulfstream took out 20 percent,  divided 56 percent among tickets  with six winners and added 24 percent to the carryover.

Program numbers of the six winning horses were 5-8-5-4-7-2.

On Thursday's first race here will be a Super Hi-5 carryover of $2,642.40.

Gulfstream's Sunday - 12 Races, Carryovers

Gulfstream Park plans a 12-race card Sunday, with a first post of 12:45 PM at the Hallandale, Florida track. No stakes races are planned.

In Saturday's action, 114 starters ran 12 races, with just two favorites entering the winner's circle. Track conditions were Clear-Firm or Clear-Fast for the entire race day.

A couple 15:1 and 16:1 wins led to some nice payouts in the late races. Races 10 and 11 were small claiming races ($6,250 and $10,000) where Il Faraone and Enduras Tigress both won by a neck over their rivals.

With that said, the race payoffs were very nice to bettors.
Late Pick 4, $6,129.35
Late Pick 5, $30,336.75
Rainbow 6, $67,829.24

The Rainbow 6 win went to just two ticket holders, who split the $135,677 available after the carryover of $58,147 was added to the existing carryover. The total pool on this wager was $242,281, and 60 starters left the gates the last 6 races.

Gulfstream: Friday Carryover is $617,000

Gulfstream Park has a ten-race card scheduled for Friday with a first post of  2:00 p.m.

The Weather Channel forecast is  for a 35 percent  chance of thunderstorms during racing hours at rhe  Hallandale Beach, Fla.,   track.

Friday's big attraction will  be the Rainbow 6, on which the carryover has grown to $617,738.

The  20-cent per combination only bet will be on  races five through ten with the sequence scheduled  to  start at  3:58 p.m.

On Thursday there were 33 tickets with the winners of all six Rainbow 6 races.  Each was paid $1,505.18 on the  20-cent  bet.

It was the 23rd straight race day  without the jackpot payoff requirement of just one ticket with  all six Rainbow  6 winners.
The  jackpot  consists of the entire  carryover plus 80 percent of the days new Rainbow  6 wagers.

On days with multiple winning tickets,, such as Thursday,  Gulfstream takes out  20 percent of the  day's Rainbow 6 wager.  It then  divides 56 percent among winning tickets  and adds 24  percent to the carryover.

On Thursday, $87,366 was bet on the Rainbow 6.

Program numbers of  the  winning horses were  2-5-7-5-6-1.

All five  of Thursday's scheduled-for-turf races were run on that surface.

On seven of this month's nine race day,s Gulfstream has moved two or more races from turf to dirt because of raim or lingering wet conditions

Gulfstream: Fast and Firm for Start of Thursday

Post  time of 1:45  p.m is approaching for the second race on Thursday's nine-race card at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale  Beach, Fla.

The  prime betting attraction is the Rainbow 6, with a carryover that has grown to  $596,772.  The  20-cent only bet is on races  four  to nine with the sequence scheduled to start at 2:46  p.m.

The day is starting off with the dirt listed as Fast and Turf listed as Firm.

But the Weather  Channel forecast is for the current 15 percent chance of thunderstorms to rise to 65 percent around 4 p.m. and stay there for several hours.

That sounds familiar to bettors, horsemen and Gulfstream management.

Due to rain or lingering wet conditions, Gulfstream moved at  least  one scheduled-for-turf race to the dirt on seven of the previous eight race  days this month.

Today's  first, third, fifth, seventh and ninth races are scheduled for turf.

Bettors  should keep this scenario in mind: If the Rainbow 6 or Late Pick 5 begins with a race scheduled for turf and it is later switched to dirt, ALL horses that remain in the race become winners for the purpose of the bet.  That often leads to several thousand Rainbow 6 tickets with (for betting purposes) six winners, but with a payoff  of less than $100.

Zayas Leads Jockey Race at GP Summer Meet; Apprentice Torres ad Jaramillo are Next

By Jim Freer
(Note: Numbers in this story are from Equibase)

As the Gulfstream Park summer  meet nears its mid-point, veteran Edgard Zayas leads jockeys in wins and in purse money.

Through this past Sunday Aug.11,  Zayas has ridden 38 winners at the meet at the Hallandale Beach, Fla., track.  Sunday was the 26th  day of the 55-day summer meet that is scheduled to end on Sept. 29.

After three dark days, Gulfstream will resume  racing on Thursday with eight races and first post of 1:15 p.m.

Apprentice Cristian Torres is second in the jockey  wins standings with 32, and  Emisael Jaramillo is third with 26.  Miguel Angel Vasquez  and Jairo Rendon are tied for fourth place at 23

Zayas, a native of Puerto Rico, is a multi-meet champion at Gulfstream.  But rather than him running away with this summer's riding  championship, we think a  tight three-way battle is more likely.

Torres, who  has a five-pound  weight allowance except in stakes races, is this season's popular " bug boy" with trainers.

He is anative of Puerto Rico and grew up in the Orando area. He began his career as a jockey   this  past  April  at  Gulfstream.
Jaramillo previously was a champion jockey in his native Venezuela.

At Gulfstream, other than the championship meet, he almost always gets top rides. And he has a history of streaks of  days with multi-race wins at Gulfstream and at Gulfstream Park West (Calder), where Gulfstream holds a meet  each  October  and  November.

Among their accomplishments, Zayas led jockeys in wins at this  year's Gulfstream spring meet and Jaramillo led in wins at  last year's summer meet.

Through Sunday, Zayas's summer meet mounts have won a meet-leading $1,057,303.

Torres is  second with$880,060 in purses and Jaramillo is third with $765,533.

Zayas and Jaramillo have  both won on 24 percent of their summer meet rides--highest among jockeys with  ten or more starts at  the meet.  Torres has won on 19 percent of his mounts.

Zayas has finished third or better on 93 of 161 mounts--a 58 percent clip.

Torres has been in the  money on 90 of 183 mounts (49 percent). Jaramillo has been in the money on 58 of  109 mounts (53  percent).

On Thursday's card, Torres is named to ride on six mounts,  Jaramillo  is scheduled for  five mounts and Zayas is named on four.

 streak days,

Torres began hus race ridinf carer this  April at gulfstream. He  is  a native if uerti  Rico  and grews  up kintyhe Orlando area,

Mong thheir accimlishments, JaramilLO led  in wins at  last year'sa Gulfstream summer  meet  aand zayas led in wis

Thus a potential late met showdown is shapiong up betweeen  one of gulfstream's year-rouind top  riders and a new rising star.

Zayas led jockeys in wins atthis year's Gulfstream summer meet.

Cristain Torres, an apprentice with a five-pound weight alowanc, is second in wins with 32.

Torres, in his first year od riding in the United States, ios a native  f Puerto Rico who grew up in theOrlando area.

Emisael Jaramilo is tthird in summer meet wins with 26.  He lead jockeys in wins at last year's summer meet.

Miguekl Angel Vasquez and Jairo  Tendon are tied for foruth place at 23 wins n the current meet.

Horses ridden by Zayas have won $1,057,303 at the summer meet --placing him first in that category.

Gulfstream Back on Turf, But Storms are in Forecast

Gulfstream Park is back on the turf for Sun        day's 12-race card that has first post of 12:45 p.m.

The turf course is listed as Firm and the dirt track is listed  as Fast. However,  the Weather  Channel  forecast  calls  or a 55 percent chance of thunderstorms between 4 p.m, and 7 p.m.

Due  to  rain Gulfstream on Saturday  moved all five of its scheduled-for- turf races to the dirt.

Through Saturday, Gulfstream due to wet conditions moved at least one  race off the turf due on six of its seven racing days in August.

Gulfstream's Saturday Racing; 12:45 PM - Carryovers

Gulfstream Park plans a 12-race card Saturday, with a first post of 12:45 PM at the Hallandale, Florida track. No stakes races area planned.

Again there's a big chance of thunderstorms starting near 4:00 PM (races 7,8). Keep that in mind. Friday's racing saw 2 of 5 races taken off the turf, resulting in a record low Rainbow 6 payout.

In Friday's action, 62 starters ran 9 races, with three favorites entering the winner's circle. Rains started after race 4, so race 5 was the last to stay on the turf course.

When the racing surface changes after bets have been placed, the ticket holders receive EVERY STARTER on their ticket for those legs affected. Therefore, races 7 and 9 were off the turf and those 14 combined starters qualified as winners on those tickets (Late Pick 4,5 and Rainbow 6).

That greatly increases the number of winners: the field of 40 starters now becomes 26. With that said, the race payoffs were:

Late Pick 4, $233.35
Late Pick 5, $8.75
Rainbow 6, $15.04

The Rainbow 6 win is the lowest since we've recorded the data; over 4 years. There were 4,412 winners.

The winning sequence on the late multiple race wagers was: 4-2/3/5-4-ALL-2-ALL.
The prior low payout on the Rainbow 6 was this year, January 24th, which paid $23.22. It was also a day when 2 legs received ALL.

Today's carryovers include the Rainbow 6 at $526,057, and the Super Hi-5 wager at $2,681. The Rainbow get underway in race 7 near 3:45 PM.

Good Luck !

Gulfstream's Friday Racing; 2:15 PM Post

Gulfstream Park plans a 9-race card Friday with a first post of 2:15 PM in keeping with its Twilight Racing schedule for Friday's through August 30th.

The only carryover is $497,629 on the Rainbow 6. The 20 cent only bet is on races 4-9 with a 3:49 PM post planned to start race 4.
Thursday, 28 winning tickets were cashed on the Rainbow 6 bet, with each collecting $2,042.34.

The winning program numbers were 4-6-3-7-5-7.

La Venezolana won the 10th and final race at 13:1, which led to the Pick 4 and Pick 5 paying $731.55 and $3,532.15 respectively.

The other five Rainbow 6 race horse winners were at odds of 7.4 or lower. The sole carryover will be paid to a single winner on the Rainbow 6 wager, with a $497,629 booty up for grabs.

12 races are planned for Saturday's card at a 12:45 PM first post, and also twelve races on Sunday at a 1:15 PM

first post time.

Good Luck !

Gulfstream Rainbow 6 Starts With Low Odds Winners

Filly Jean King (7) at 4-1 won Sunday's seventh race on the sloppy dirt track to  start Gulfstream Park's  Rainbow 6.

Bettors added $125,404 to  the Rainbow 6  pool.

The carryover coming in was $442,830.

Courtesy  Notice (1) at 4-1 won the eighth race.

Now, unless two long shots  win in the final  races, it appears, that there will be multiple  tickets with the winners of all six races--thus continuing the  carryover into  an 18th  day.

Gulfstream Off Turf Again

Amid heavy rain, racing is off the turf again at  Gulfstream Park.

The seventh race is approaching, with scheduled post of 3:49 p.m., to start the Rainbow 6.  The  carryover is $442,830.

The eighth, tenth and 12th races have been taken off turf and moved to the dirt track that is sloppy and sealed.
Late  scraatches in those  races are:

Tenth  --3,8,9
Twelfth --  2,5,6, 9, 14

Gulfstream Sunday Preview

Gulfstream Park has a 12-race card on Sunday with first post of  12:45 p.m.

And management at the Hallandale Beach, Fla., track, fans and horsemen are hoping that rain will stay away--thus allowing the first day since Saturday July  27 with no races taken off the turf.

That  will follow Saturday's  rain-soaked racing , when the colt Chance It and the filly Lenzi's Lucky Lady won this year's opening leg races in the FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes Series for 2-year-olds.

Later Sunday, we will have  additional  details on the Florida Sire Stakes races.

There are no stakes races on the Sunday card. Instead, the day's  big stories will be the weather and the Rainbow 6 which has a carryover  of $442,830.

The Rainbow 6, a 20-cent per combination only bet, will be on races seven to twelve with the sequence scheduled to  begin at 3:46 p.m.

As of  0:45 a.m,, it was sunny at Gulfstream and management had not listed the dirt and turf conditions.

The Weather Channel forecast is fora chance of thunderstorms ranging between 25 percent and 6 percent during racing hours.

The Rainbow 6  carryover is growing because Saturday was the 17th straight racing day without the jackpot/carryover payoff requirement of  just one ticket with all six winning Rainbow 6 horses.

There were 23 tickets with winners of all six races in the Rainbow 6.

Each of those tickets received $3,273 on a 20-cent bet.

Program numbers  of the winning horses were 5-6-1-14-7-2.   The winners were three favorites, two other horses below 4-1 and a 24-1shot.

Gulfstream Off theTurf for Friday

Friday will be the third straight day with no  turf racing at  Gulfstream Park.

Due to still-wet conditions from retcent days'  heavy rains, Gulfstream has moved all five  of Friday's scheduled-for-turf races to the dirt  track which is listed as Good.

Those races are the first, third,  fifth, seventh and ninth.

Friday's Gulfstream - 9 Races, 2:15 PM Post

Gulfstream Park plans a 9 race card Friday, with a first post of 2:15 PM as part of it's Twilight Racing schedule. Last post is near 6:30 PM at the Hallandale, Florida track.

Forty-Nine starters are listed in the last 6 races, where the Rainbow 6 carryover will be $386,770 starting in race 4 starts from the gate at a listed 3:49 PM Post time.

Today is the 16th day of the growing Rainbow carryover, which was last cashed on July 6th for $173,584
.

Twenty races have been taken off the turf since then, leading to a couple close calls of just 2,3,4,5 and 7 winnners of the Rainbow wager. The jackpot is paid out to just a single winner.

In Thursday's action, 5 tickets were winners in the field of 41 starters. Each received $7,480 on the 20 cent wager.

The betting pool has been decreasing with the rains, so we'll see how that plays out today.
There is a 15% to 40% chance of rain during racing hours - the bulk of the rain expected between 5:00-6:00 p.m.

Good Luck!

Thursday's Gulfstream Racing Preview

Gulfstream Park plans a 9 race schedule Thursday, with a first post listed as 1:15 PM.

No stakes races are planned, as is usual for the weekdays in summer meets. This will be day 19 of the Summer meet that runs through September 29th.

In Wednesday's racing, a low 46 starters ran 8 races on the fast course, but wet turf conditions forced all 4 turf runs to the main track.

Six winners were listed as favorites at post time. Three to one was the high odds winner in the last 6 races, diluting the payouts considerably.

The Late Pick 5 paid: $62.60, while the Late Pick 4 paid a tiny $39.80.

The Rainbow 6 wager paid $164.86 to 203 winning ticket holders.

Bettors added $59,615 to the Rainbow 6 pool Wednesday, and the carryover keeps growing. The Thursday carryover will be $370,742.

The Rainbow 6 wager gets underway in race 4 at approx. 2:45 PM.

Good Luck.
