Dr. Fager Preview

Based on impressive wins in his only two starts--both at Gulfstream Park--Fully Loaded will almost certainly be the heavy favorite in today's $100,000 Dr. Fager Stakes at Gulfstream.

'The Dr. Fager is six furlongs on dirt, for Florida-bred 2-year-old males who meet eligibility  requirements for the Florida Sire Stakes series.

It is the 12th race with scheduled post  of 6:04 p.m.

The Dr. Fager has ten entrants, all carrying 118 pounds. Fully Loaded is the only horse in the field with more than one win.

He won at five furlongs on May 29 and at 5 1/2 furlongs on July 6.  In his second victory, he won by 7 1/2 lengths.

Edgard Zayas rode  Fully Loaded in both of those races and has the mount again on Saturday for trainer Jose Pinchin.

The field also has Take Command, Jackson and Cajun Firecracker--all with one win  at Gulfstream in their only starts.

Those three horses and Fully Loaded have all shown early speed.

If a speed dual develops, it could help the chances of Nacho Papa.

Garbar Boy is coming off a win at 7 1/2 furlongs on turf at Gulfstream.  He is 20-1 in the morning line, and could be a live long shot.

Like other races for 2-year-olds at this stage of the year, the outcome could depend partly on how some of the first out winners react to having horses racing head-to-head with them and/or to having dirt kicked in their faces.

Our  selections
1 -- Fully Loaded (6)
2 -- Take Command (8)
3 -- Garbar Boy (5)
4 -- Nacho Papa (3)
5 -- Cajun Firecracker (7)
