Gulfstream Mandatory Day Has $999,089 Carryover

Gulfstream Park will have a carryover of $999,089 on its  Rainbow 6 on Saturday - and all of it must be paid out.

Saturday is a highly publicized mandatory payout day of the full carryover plus  80 percent of the day's new bets on the Rainbow 6 - regardless of the number of  tickets with the winners of all six races.

First post is 12:55 p.m. for  Saturday's 11-race  card. The Rainbow 6 is on races six to eleven, with the sequence set to start a 3:25 p.m. ET.

Gulfstream estimates that more than $3 million will be bet  on the Rainbow 6 on Saturday.

The 11th and final race is the $100,000 Soldier's Dancer at 1 1/16 miles on turf for Florida-breds 3-years-old and up.

The Rainbow 6 is a 20-cent per combination-only bet. Multiple horses can be used in each race, thus setting up a ticket with multiple 20 cent combinations.  For example, a ticket with two horses in each race has 64 combinations and costs $12.80.

Gulfstream generally pays out the Rainbow 6 jackpot only on days when there is just one ticket  with the winners of all six  Rainbow  six races.

On Friday there were 189 tickets with the winners of all  six Rainbow  6 races.  Each received $588.02, and the carryover continued for a 33rd day.

Per its rules on days with multiple winning tickets, Gulfstream took out 20 percent, divided 56 percent among the tickets with six  winners and  added 24 percent to the carryover.

That increased the carryover from $951,477 to  $999,089.
