The Money Monster takes 1st Stakes of the Day

After an exciting duel down the stretch with favorite Chance of Luck, Money Monster the 3-year old colt trained by Rohan Crichton wins the $100K Pasco Stakes in a running time of 1:24.04.

The Money Monster was ridden to victory by jockey Edward Zayas and had final odds of 7-2.  After being bumped at start, Zayas' plan to "get him out of the gate" so he claims was a little skewed, but he still got Money Monster to track inside, challenge on the rail and dig in very determinedly for a 1/2 length victory over Chance of Luck. He noted he "had to keep on riding him because he can get kind of lazy, but once in the stretch he went. You just got to ride him ride him." 

It looked like for a minute Field Trip, was going to get by but The Money Monster kicked into another gear, chased Chance of Luck for the win.

The race was 7 furlongs on the main track and the total Win Place Show pool was $161,928.  The charts are as follows below:
