The track is fast and the turf is firm. The first race was a total purse of $22,500 for 3-year olds and upward.
Elitch the 4-year old favorite for the race grabbed his first season win today with a winning time of 1:42.30 in the mile and 40 yards length race on the dirt.
Elitch came in with morning line odds at 2-1 and initially hesitated slowly, raced close inside, and picked it up late, and drew clear towards the last furlong. Elitch beat Novalis the 9-5 morning line favorite, ridden by Angel Cruz by 1 3/4 lengths. Elitch is under the care of Ian Wilkes and was ridden by Leandro Goncalves.
The total Win Place Show pool was $60,306 and the charts are as follows below:
