GP West: First Post Coming Up

Thoroughbred racing resumes at the Gulfstream Park West meet on Wednesday with first post of 12:35 p.m. for a ten-race card.

The dirt track is listed as fast and the turf course is listed as firm.  Five races (the even numbered ones) are scheduled for turf. The temporary rail is set at 15 feet.

Gulfstream Park is holding the GP West meet at Calder in Miami Gardens as part of a lease agreement.

The Weather Channel forecast is for a zero percent chance of rain during racing hours.

The Rainbow 6 carryover has grown to $40,215.  It is on races five through ten.

Nine of Wednesday’s races are claiming or maiden claiming.
The exception is the eighth, a $34,000 maiden special weight at one mile on turf for two-year-old fillies.

As an indication that the South Florida winter racing is getting underway, the race has two horses trained by Todd Pletcher and one horse trained by Bill Mott.

Pletcher has Blame It On Dixie and My Life. Mott has  Sugar and Te.

We will have coverage during the afternoon on our blog
