Gulfstream: Fast and Firm for Sire Stakes day.



The main track is listed as fast and the turf is listed as firm as the 12:00 p.m. first post approaches for Saturday’s 13-race card at Gulfstream Park.

The Weather Channel forecast is for just a 5 percent chance of rain during racing hours in Hallandale Beach, where Gulfstream is  located.

We will have coverage from Gulfstream during the afternoon on our blog.

Here is the Saturday stakes schedule.  An asterisk denotes that  the race is part of the Florida Sire Stakes Series.

*Third race (12:56 p.m.) -- $300,000 Susan’s Girl, seven furlongs on dirt for 2-YO fillies

*Fourth race (1:26 p.m.)  --$150,000 Jewell Princess -- seven furlongs on dirt for 3-YO fillies

Sixth race (2:30 p.m.) -- $75,000 The Vid, 1 1/16 miles on turf for three-year-olds and up. 

 *Tenth race (4:56 p.m.) -- $150,000 Prized ---seven furlongs on dirt for 3-year-olds

Eleventh race (5:31 p.m.) -- $75,000 Wasted Tears,1 1/16 miles on turf for fillies and mares three-years-old and up

*Twelfth race (6:06 p.m.) -- $300,000 Affirmed, 7 furlongs on dirt, 2-year-old males

The Sire Stakes races are restricted to Florida-bred sons  and daughters of standing-in-Florida stallions whose owners have nominated them for the program, which is administered by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association (FTBOA).
