Trinniberg Stakes Tops GP Saturday Card

Trinniberg Stakes Tops Gulfstream Saturday Card

The Saturday feature race at Gulfstream Park is the Trinniberg.

But it could also be called the “Close, But No Cigar.”

The Trinniberg has a $75,000 purse and is seven furlongs on dirt for three-year-olds and up that have never won a stakes race on dirt.

The ten-horse field has several horses that have hit the board in a dirt stakes and/or have won allowance or high-level allowances or optional claiming races on dirt at Gulfstream.

Ledokol, Hy Riverside, Wildcat Wish, Hy Kodiak Warrior and Abounding Legacy all fit one or both of those billings.

They are part of what shapes up as a wide-open betting race that could produce some attractive exacta and trifecta payoffs.

The Trinniberg is the tenth race with scheduled post of 5:30 p.m.

We will be at Gulfstream during the afternoon and will have a preview on this blog

Gulfstream has a 12-race card with first post of 12:45 p.m.
There is a carryover of $232,716 on the Rainbow 6, on races seven through 12.

*The Trinniberg is named for the South Florida-stabled horse that won the 2012 Breeders’ Cup Sprint (Grade 1) at Santa Anita in Arcadia, Calif,

In 2012, his three-year-old season, Trinniberg won three other graded sprint stakes including the Swale (Grade 3) at Gulfstream.

Bisnath Parboo and his son Shivananda trained Trinniberg and their family owned the horse.

Neither has trained any horses since 2014.  Their family-owned Sherry Racing remains active as an owner.

Following a private sale late in 2013, Trinniberg has been a stallion at Rockridge Stud near Hudson. N.Y.  His 2016 stud fee is $5,000.

*Gulfstream will have eleven races on Sunday, with first post at 1:15 p.m.

The feature tenth race is the $75,000 Monroe at seven furlongs on dirt for fillies and mares three-years-old and up that have never won a dirt stakes race.

The Monroe is basically a distaff counterpart to the Trinniberg.

The race has eight entrants. Miss Hollywood and
Winning for Sarahare among the likely favorites.
