A Look at Gulfstream's Sea of Grass

With this morning's scratch of Sing Praises the field is down to nine for the $75,000 Sea of Grass Stakes at Gulfstream.

It is the tenth race (post around 6:10 p.m.) at 6 1/2 furlongs on dirt for Florida-breds 3-years-old and  up.

We are among the many who like Yourdreamsormine, coming off Gulfstream stakes races in which he finished second at six furlongs and won at seven furlongs.

Yourdreamsormine has a  stalking style and would benefit from an expected fast pace. So would Abounding Legacy, coming off a series of strong showings in high-end allowance optional claiming races at Gulfstream.

We're All Set looks to be best among the horses with early speed.

A big question will be whether multiple stakes winner Grande Shores can rebound from  two recent poor showings.  And has the 8-year-old become an off-track specialist?

In his final race for trainer Stan Gold , Grande Shores won the 7-furlong Sir Shackleton
at  Gulfstream on a track listed as good.

Then, after a shift to Mark Casse's barn, he finished third in the Bull Gator and fifth and  last  in the Parrot Key. Those were the races in which Yourdreamsormine won and finished second.

Last Sunday, Grande Shores had a four-furlong
bullet workout of 46.4 on a muddy Gulfstream track.

The track is dry for the Sea of Grass. But regardless of track condition, it is wise to include Grande Shores in exactas.
