Gulfstream Park starts its race week today, with 10 races and first post time of 12:35 P.M.
Of significance is the Rainbow 6 wager, where the jackpot now stands at $1.15 million. This pot has grown steadily since it was re-set after the last sole winner on January 13th took home $76,799.
There have been 4 jackpot payouts during this meet, two in December, and two in January.
Looking at our data on this wager, we see that the mid-week racing days are favored thus far for a single jackpot payout; 2 Wednesday’s, followed by a Thursday and a Sunday. Although this is not enough of a sample to draw any conclusions as to a trend, we feel that the lower handle during the weekdays would favor the pro’s to pool their wagers and go ‘deep’ in the 6 legs of this wager, hoping for a higher probability of a win. We’ll see.
The first leg of today’s Rainbow 6 starts with race #5, a $12,500 claiming for 3 YO’s at 6 furlongs on the dirt. The post time is approximately 2:35 PM EST
