The 3-5 favorite Awesome Speed took the lead heading into the turn and held off 10-1 shot El Charro to win the one-mile Mucho Macho Man Stakes.
Awesome Speed won in 1:35.87.
Joel Rosario rode Awesome Speed for his fourth victory of the day.
It was Awesome Speed's third win in four career starts and it came in his first race longer than six furlongs.
He is now a candidate for the 1 1/16 mile Fountain of Youth (Grade 2) at Gulfstream on Jan. 30.
The winners of Gulfstream's five stakes races for 3-year-olds were:

* Old Hat -- Lucy N Ethel
* Ginger Brew -- Lira
* Dania Beach -- life Imitates Art
* Mucho Macho Man -- Awesome Speed
