Valid Wins Harlan's Holiday Stakes at Gulfstream

Valid showed his liking for Gulfstream Park again on Saturday as he held off a late run by Madefromlucky to win the $100,000 Harlan's Holiday Stakes.

It was Valid's sixth win in 12 career starts at Gulfstream.  His list of Gulfstream wins includes the Fred W. Hooper Handicap (Grade 3).

The Harlan's Holiday was 1 1/16 miles on dirt for 3-year-olds and up.

The Harlan's Holiday was sandwiched between  two $100,000 stakes races on turf.

Tuttipaesi won the 7 1.2 furlong South Beach for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up

In the 11th and final  race, the El Prado, Reporting Star beat Aztec Brave by three lengths after some heavy bumping down the stretch.

Corey Lanerie, the rider of Aztec Brave lodged an objection against Miguel Vasquez, the rider of Reporting Star   There also was a steward's inquiry.


But the stewards determined that there was nor sufficient reason to change the result, and they let Reporting Star stand as the winner.

The El Prado was 7 1/2 furlongs for males 3-years-old and up.
